(I did read a bunch more but not from cover to cover which is my law for being allowed to put them in the list)

Whew! Listing those felt like when I was a kid and a total book nerd. I used to read about three books per day and when I was 11-12 I would keep a little database in some Office program with writer, title, ISBN-number, year of production and if it was a re-print or not, what it was about and my review. One year I had read 900 books I think. Though then i had more time, no friends and easier books!
New years promise for 2010 is to keep it up plus at least rating the book on a scale from 1-5.

The best book of the entire year was Ljuset (Light) by Torgny Lindgren. I know it’s been translated and I’d recommend it to you all. Though you’re luckier if you get to read it in swedish.

Changed stuff around on my walls.

Frej was dressed in red on christmas, but it was not for feeling christmasy if I got it right. He was working so we parted ways.

After that I went to my parents in Jönköping over christmas and didn’t take pictures. It was really nice to see all my friends and family again, managed to get through a lot of the list of people I haven’t seen in ages before I went back home. I’ve also gotten some fantastical gifts, I’m going to take pictures tomorrow. Another beautiful 1920s medical book, a red vintage hat box, some 20s sewing mags and 30s-40s knitting. Among other things! Also finished my 52nd and 53rd book of the year! Will list them all aswell. Also bought a lot of great books for 40 kronor alltogether at the Red Cross in Jönköping the day before yesterday! Now I’ve got to sleep though.

While economies grow, social justice is unnecessary, as lives can be improved without redistribution. While economies grow, people need not confront their elites. While economies grow, we can keep buying our way out of trouble. But, like the bankers, we stave off trouble today only by multiplying it tomorrow. Through economic growth we are borrowing time at punitive rates of interest. It ensures that any cuts agreed at Copenhagen will eventually be outstripped. Even if we manage to prevent climate breakdown, growth means that it’s only a matter of time before we hit a new constraint, which demands a new global response: oil, water, phosphate, soil. We will lurch from crisis to existential crisis unless we address the underlying cause: perpetual growth cannot be accomodated on a finite planet. - Monbiot

50. Branden i Hjärtat – Mahasweta Devi
51. Glaskupan – Sylvia Plath

I didn’t like the Bell Jar much. Mahasweta Devi though, she was wonderful.
I have also read Det Sovande Folket by Sweden’s prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt this year. However, I do not count this as a book. There were sentences in there, but it would be like counting those joke books they put in the bathroom to read while you are doing your thing as books. So I have to read another and then I have kept my entire new years promise from last year!

I am back from Copenhagen! Or, we came back Thursday but both Frej and I have had bad colds and also I’m writing an essay for school so I’m really busy. I’ll write about Copenhagen when I have the time, for now, let’s just say that being there was fantastical & sad at the same time and that I am as convinced as ever that change and real solutions does not come from above.
