I also got a Margit Sandemo book for 2 kronor at Finska kyrkans loppis. Linnea and I were in the sofa all afternoon. She was reading Danielle Steel and I Margit Sandemo. Gotta love tantsnusk aswell! Both of our books contained references to how more “noble” people are just a better breed, haha!

And I got these really thick socks at Emmaus, and they are the only thing that make me even remotely look forward to autumn.

The shoes & I bonded very well for a day so I thought I’d wear them out.

The day before, I had gone to Frej’s house so I only had these shoes to wear. That day was a sunny spring day & the day after decided to be snowy/rainy instead. When I got to uni, this had happened…

I had to limp to the only second hand store nearby to find something that I could wear to get back to Frej’s place. (Had to go there because he was having some of our friends over later that evening.) The only acceptable pair there that fit, were these. Not the most appropriate to walk through crappy weather with, and one of them turned out to be too big so that my foot fell out with each step, but I managed my way back to Frej’s!

The day after, I was meeting up with Elina for a walk & some tea and cake at Two Little Birds, and second pair of shoes turned out to be creep-magnets, I had three weird men say creepy-hellos to me or start trying to chat me up within the 15 minutes I was waiting for Elina since I was early.  (I totally blame the shoes as this doesn’t happen to me often at all otherwise.) I have kinda mastered the art of walking without my foot falling out now, though!

As Elina and I were supposed to take a walk, and I still hadn’t managed to get back home to my place, I had to go to yet another second hand store and get yet another pair of shoes to be able to! Never again will I be unprepared like this! Well, well, Elina has moved to Gothenburg, we ran in to eachother by the tram once but before that we hadn’t seen eachother in ages. We got to know eachother from the grand old skunk.nu about ten years ago. And it was so nice to see her again!!! I wish I had taken pictures though, now that my camera chord is back, but I keep forgetting. We took a long walk in Slottsskogen with my new-new-new pair of shoes.

Traitors! But pretty. I’ll get that first pair mended as soon as I can.

Today I am chillaxing in my 60s shorts that I had forgotten I owned. They are excellent!

I read an article on SVD today (the only news site that I had forgot to block out during my internet blockage hours..) about tonnes of apples being left to rot on the trees and the initiative Abundance in England, where people are helping the villa owners get rid of their fruits and make lots of pies, apple jam, and so on.

Last fall, Frej and I walked around for an afternoon in a villa suburb on Hisingen, spied after neglected apple trees, rang people’s doorbells and asked them if we could pick their apples. Everyone we met was thrilled with the idea, we offered to pick apples for the owners aswell and to clean up under the trees for them. In return we got huge amounts of apples and made 20 liters of apple wine, apple pies, and had loads of apples to eat. I’d recommend this to all of you! It’s super nice – everyone wins – you get free food, talk to people you ordinary wouldn’t talk to. In particular I remember an elderly lady who was absolutely thrilled that we asked, and came out with us in the garden and talked about her grandkids and other nice stories.

Apple picking success how-to.

1. Think of an area nearby where you live, where there are lots of villas – that’s where you’ll find the apples. (Or plums and pears, and other things depending on where in the world you live.)
2. Go there in daytime and people won’t think it’s creepy that you’re ringing on their door.
3. Ask nicely if you can pick apples and tell them that you can clean up under the trees and put any fallen down fruit in a bucket or in their compost for them.
4. Pick apples.
5. Make a lot of apple things! Like I said, we made wine, pie and a few things I don’t kow the english words for. But you can also make apple cupcakes, chutneys, and loads of other things!

If you find there are too many apples you can step it up even more and start dowing something like the Abundance projects.
(There seem to be many all over the globe) Make food for others.

And the purse I got the day before yesterday. 80 kr & so good! It has room for large books and has a longer strap than my other black purse so that I can actually use both arms for other things while carrying it which I couldn’t before and has driven me crazy with the old one.

Urtekram (click here to go to their website) is a danish company that has been making ecological & organic products since 1972. Their products are not tested on animals which is a big plus aswell. And the factories are run with no use of oil, and only wind power! And so on… they are pretty great.

The other week, before I got the tooth paste, I also decided it was time for me to try a new shampoo brand. I bought this one at a Life Store (Life is a health store chain in Sweden) because it was the only Urtekram shampoo available and I’ve heard much good about them before. And it’s been really really good to my hair! Not that the hair was bad before but it stays clean & not greasy for at least one day longer with this shampoo. Which I love since my hair takes a long long time to dry, looks shit if blow dried and I don’t wanna leave the house with it wet. I think it also curls a bit more now but that could be my imagnation. The shampoo was like 70 kronor if I remember correctly which is ca 700% more expensive than my last shampoo, the Coop X-tra… but that’s ok.
