I forced a re-start of our sewing circle Reclaim Syjuntan after summer laziness. We meet every Sunday at different people’s houses and make things! This time we were at our collective.

Lisa was knitting a sweater.

I made marmelade myself, not very sewing circle-esque but still… Then Pierre and I who both for some reason are still registred in the swedish church (laziness is my reason) went to vote in the church election so that the super right wing party SD wouldn’t get in.

28. Till Sanningens Lov – Torgny Lindgren
29. Hummelhonung – Torgny Lindgren
30. Sfär-fäderna – Maria-Pia Boëthius

If I keep this pace up I may be able to read one book/week this year. All of them were thrifted, Hummelhonung I got for 10 kr at Myrorna by Järntorget and the other two I got this weekend in Jönköping for 5 kr/each.
Ps. I know this might not be the most fun posts for you to read but I am not a good reviewer of books or movies or anything. I have a hard time describing what they make me feel and why I love certain things, and quick rating is impossible. I still do want to list them here though…

Suss and I went for a walk today,  to collect rowan berries to make jam/marmelade with.

Scarf – found at my old place after a party, never found the owner.
Sweater – knitted by my grandmother some 25 years ago
Shorts - were pants my mom bought me when I was about 14 that I’ve had since and been cutting shorter and shorter
Stockings – hand-me-down from Johanna & Mattias
Boots – thrifted

It took us about 10 minutes to pick enough to make  a test batch. I read that the berries will be less sour if they have been frozen so since I don’t think it’s been that cold out yet I’ve now put them in the freezer and will make the marmelade tomorrow or when I have time. Hopefully that will be soon, cause I’m excited! I’ve never tasted this before, I just read about it on the internet. and felt I had to make an attempt.

ways in

Yesterday we had a walk with the school to look at different ways in which to grow food within the city.

DSC00164

I don’t know the english term for “kolonilotter” where you rent/own  a tiny little cottage and a place to grow things.
I think one of them would be ideal to live in but it’s forbidden to do that in Sweden, you may only live in them in the summer time from what I can gather.

Want this so much.

Susanne and a cat we met when we were going to pick up the cabinet (which was too wide, sadly, we only noticed when we had carried it all the way home. We had been given the wrong measurements… but Ulrika could use it in her room instead so no harm done except our hallway is still chaos!)

Another picture from the other day that I liked now that I looked through them again.

Q: Have you done much traveling, outside of Scandinavian countries? If you could, would you like to live somewhere else, or do you love it a lot where you are already?
A: I have never been outside Europe. I’ve been to France a couple of times, and Italy, Spain, Hungary on the synchronized swimming exercise trip from hell, England and Germany but that’s it I think. I don’t think living elsewhere would fit me very well, perhaps for short periods of time but I don’t think I’d move somewhere abroad and stay there. I really like this town and feel that I could live in the apartment where I live now for ever pretty much, if I only had good people to live with forever.

Q: Do you have any political role-models that inspire your “fight against the unfairness”?
A: I think that Isabella Lövin does a fantastical job, as does Ofog, Klimax
Rena Kläder /Clean Clothes and many many more. Isabella was the only one I can think of right now that is one particular person.  But if the question is if I have a role model as in someone I’d like to do the same as, then I don’t think I have anyone. I think larger movements and tendencies in the society are more interesting than the works of particular persons. Also I like a bunch of writers and thinkers but they’re not role models in the sense that I view them as someone I’d like to emulate since I don’t think I’d ever want to write a book. But they have good brains.

Q: I’m in love with your hair and was wondering how you style it? Is it just pinned up haphazardly?
Yep, it is. I never use hair products, I don’t comb it and I put about four pins in strategical places every morning and comb the bangs. (And thank you!)

Q: Are you vegan, or vegetarian?
I am a vegetarian that eats probably about 95% vegan food…. (the only exceptions are pretty much that I will steal Susannes milk to put in my tea if I’m out of soy milk and the store is closed, if I am hungover and really need a pizza I need to go to the pizzeria I live next to that I  think put milk in their dough, or if I am at my grandparents.) I might start eating completely vegan soonish though, thought about it for a very long time now and it’s the most reasonable thing for me. We’ll see about when that happens.I highly doubt (or I know) that I wouldn’t stop buying vintage leather/silk etc so I don’t think I’d  call myself vegan, only my dietary choices.

Q: You seem to be quite a politically charged person; what inspired you? Were you an environmental activist before you met Frej?
I don’t know if it’s inspiration so much as just pure amazement over how badly run the world is. It’s impossible to stay oblivious to.  I’ve been politically active on and off since I was about 14, but it’s been pretty much impossble in the town where I used to live to do much since there was no organization I wanted to be in. Also for long times I’ve been to tired with/disappointed in the people of the movements that I have shut down completely to activism and resorted to reading & studying, doing my thing on my own and being annoyed with the world. But now I’ve switched towns to a good one for what I want to do in that department!
Short answer to the second question is: I was, and he was not before he met me.
Long answer is that I am completely amazed that people (not you who asked the question as much as people I actually know, I’ve been asked this before) would assume that even though I’ve studied corporate social responsibility, ethical lifestyles, environmental politics and run a business based on all vintage and handmade from vintage material, I still wouldn’t be interested in the environmental issues of the world if it wasn’t for my boyfriend. Being able to be more active in those issues are mainly a matter of 1) location b) good company in the sense that I do need someone to bring with me to study groups and organizational meetings or I will be too shy to do much at all.  Frej has gotten more and more involved in environmental issues nowadays which I am happy about, he’s really more of an animal rights guy and has been for a very long time. (We grew up in the same town and I always knew a little of who he was and that he was vegan/sXe. I remember when I was about 14 I thought he was cute becasue he used to wear a cap with the red star and looked like Che Guevara but then my friend Lina said he was so sXe he wouldn’t eat chocolate and then I thought he was strange instead) And though he for sure is the reason for me connecting veganism with environment more and more, he is not the reason for me to be politically active  nor is he the reason for me to be an environmentalist or interested in the huge issues that are  connected to consumption.

I cut my bangs asymmetrical again yesterday, and bleached parts of the hair and the ends of all the dreads. Now it’s a more orangey red and I like it a lot, much more autumny. The bleach was only in for about 20 minutes as I just wanted a brighter orange and not yellow or blonde.

Also my mother got me an umbrella at some thrift store, she said it was 10 kr.

Hey people, ask me what you feel like! It can be about pretty much anything. What hair colours I’ve had or if  I was a bothersome kid or what my opinion is on whatever you wonder about. I’ll write the answers in a separate entry when I’ve got enough to answer. If I can’t be patient  I’ll probably writemore than one answer post instead of waiting.

You’re also very welcome to fill in an introducion of yourselves in this entry! I like reading about who reads this. Because quite a lot of people do these days! Also you should fill me in that you’re reading this if you know me in real life so that I don’t have to repeat myself with what I say to different people, because now it happens everosoften that after my 10 minute speach you say “Yeah I read about that in yout blog the other day” and that makes me feel awkward!

End of transmission!

Bleached & cut Frejs hair yesterday. the pictures are from this morning though.

Home made falafel for breakfast.

DSC00137

Made with things I don’t know all the enligh words for: falafel, libabröd, majrovor, vitkål, tomater, bästa chilisåsen& tahina.

TODAYS PLANS: Going to school, dropping by at Frejs studio for a while to wait for Susanne to quit her school and come with me to go get that teak cabinet. We went yesterday but when we arrived it turned out the girl who was giving it away wasn’t home.
TODAYS SONG:
Kicks – Sahara Hotnights

TODAYS MOOD:
Calm and pleased and things like that.
TODAYS WANT: Nothing in particular. More tea, perhaps.

Found my old school papers when I was cleaning out the attic at my parents’ place in Jönköping.
I hated that school quite a bit. Nothing ever changed, even with our protest lists and principal talks and everything, and I bet it is still the same.

Scene 1 Home economics
Harri is sitting next to Frida. He starts to touch her between her legs and pull her panties. Frida tells him to stop but he keeps going while he says a lot of “stuff” to Fredrik P and Jacob. Frida screams that he should lay it off and hits him. The teacher (Berit) says “Frida, you will have to calm down now!” Fredrik says “Frida probably likes it when Harri does that”.  Birgit tells Frida to change to a different table. Sofie and I protest as Harri is the disgusting one and he should be the one to have to move. Birgit says “How could I get him to move?” and does not even make an attempt. Sofie and I scream at both Harri and Birgit. Birgit forces Frida to move since it’s “in her own best interest to not have to deal with Harri”
Harry stays, Frida moves and Sofie takes her place by the table. She says “You are not touching ME” which makes Harri start up again immidiately. Birgit forces Sofie to move places too. After that Harri starts telling me I’m a fucking racist because of my Doc Martens and Birgit does not tell him to stop. Sofie and I ASK her to throw Harri out of the class room which makes Harri say “Is she going to lift me? I’m to heavy to lift, she CAN’T throw me out” Birgit says that she could ASK H. to leave but apparantly, he does not want to.

I have so much to do right now! AHHH! And everything is being troublesome today.

Anyway, this weekend I was in Jönköping. Went to Insikten with Becka to watch some bands play. Terre was there and confessed her love for me! :D

Us cool people in the stairs, it’s Terre, some guy I didn’t know but that is my neighbour in Göteborg, me and Sära.

Haha I took this picture yesterday because I was so pleased with coming home, going to the store and  filling my shelf in the fridge up with so many vegetables!  And my dad had made plum marmelade for me to bring  home!! It is so good! Quality food is the best thing, I love to buy food.

DSC00101

Been reading books in the forest and taking pictures of myself.

DSC00093

Today we’re getting a teak cabinet (not sure that is the right word), for the hallway, Susannes friend gave it away on Facebook so we’re picking it up later. The hallway is getting really nice now, and we’re in desperate need of somewhere to put the gazillion shoes we own. Now I need another internet break!
I know I haven’t updated Lily in a while but it’s on it’s way, I promise. And I will tell you when it happens!
