I’m back at home again! Came home the day before yesterday, late in the evening. On monday evening my parents and I went to my grandparents who live pretty close to Stockholm. My grandmother gave me this lovely crochet quilt! I’ve been wanting one for a long time, and have been jealous of Suss’ one we have in the kitchen. And she also gave me  some other things (books, textiles and a very cute orange briefcase filled with oil paints!) but the uploading function of this blog just decided to not work. I’ll show you when it does again.

Then we went to Stockholm over the day. First my mom spoiled me and bought me stockings. Then I met up with my loved partner in crime and ex flatmate Adina. She had dyed her hair back to red which made me so nostalgic for when we were 15 I almost cried.
Mom, her and I went to the photography museum and took a peak at the Annie Leibovitz-exhibition. Which was pretty nic/ok/whatever. I didn’t care for it that much. Fun to have seen I guess but I am not really one of those photo appreciative people. We also ate a pretty great dinner at Hermans & I also drank a vegan latte later to see if caffeine would make me feel very weird since I hadn’t had caffeine in months. (it didn’t, I was surprised!) Adina showed me Goodstore where we got excellent vegan sausages that we ate waiting for the train back home. Aaand I found the Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood at a second hand book store! I was thrilled, since I finished Year of the Flood I had been contemplating ordering this one even though I barely have money for food these days. And I got another of Tora Dahls books; Brevet till Leonard. And I also bought a gorgeous dress which I will photograph when I’m wearing it out the next time. Couldn’t resist it, I had to change into it instantly, in the store because it was so great.

The train home was an hour delayed and on the train I had to listen to a seriously annoying american guy talk about his boring life to an unimpressed swedish girl answering in bad english. Painful hours, since it’s pretty impossible to focus on reading when someone is talking loud in english and you can’t escape and zone out.
Yesterday I read, did practical things like buy files for my company and was bored. I finished Dark Water by Joyce Carol Oates, an ok book I guess. Starting to think that maybe I don’t like her anymore and maybe should’t waste more time reading her books.
Right now I am waiting for Linnea and Tobias to come over and play cards with me for a while, then we’re having a dinner in the collective!

There are no words and no actions to explain how much I love Nick Cave. And I just started to love him even more for this video. It’s the best video since the Weeping Song! Or the best video ever in the history of music videos. OK I’m off to die out of pure love.

Hello! Today I went to a second hand store with my parents and found two amazing books about sexuality (The total classic Det fulländade äktenskapet and one book titled something like What a married woman should know)  from ca 1920. Goes well with the rest of my medical book collection! I also bought one by Sara Lidman (Oskuldens Minut), and one by Stig Claesson (Flickor). All for a total of 19 kronor!

After that mom went to work and dad and I went on to another second hand store. There I got the gorgeous dress above, after having begged for it for a while since it had no price tag and they generally do not sell anything not tagged due to sneaky people trying to mark the price down. The lady behind the counter thought it matched my style too well not to sell it, I was wearing a very similar brocade dress… I also got two books by Tora Dahl; one called Kamrater and the second part of her book series about Gunborg. I had part 1 and part 3-8 from before, so I am very happy to be able to continue reading the series now, at last! And another book by Zaharia Stancu, Den galna skogen. This was all 181 kr together so all of this glory together was 200 kronor.
Then dad & I had the best falafel in Jönköping (the one by Överskottsbolaget) and after that we went to my parents’ where I have been watching a not-too-good movie about Françoise Sagan and playing with my parents camera. Pictured above are also the super overpriced 335 kronor Wolford stockings my mom bought me for like 70 kr the other day in Göteborg… very pleasing.

My parents were here over day and we went to the Museum for History of Medicine which was fantastical! Brutal medical equipment and antique models of body parts always make me very excited. Especially when the body parts are teeth. Which they were. I took loads of pictures. It was also extra excellent because you got to listen to a tape about the museum on a freestyle! Half way through my camera battery died. So I can’t post them today and hence I instead chose the beautiful picture above of Rebecka and I at Rotary.
Then we went to the art museum & some other places aswell. I got spoiled by mom with false eyelashes and some stockings on sale, one pair that I’ve been pining for but never thought I’d own since they were 335 kr (!) before and were now like 70 kr. Then we went to Frej’s place where they had coffee and I ginger tea and we taught my parents to play Uno. Dad won twice and danced a sitting dance. Then I took a quick decision and went with my parents to Jönköping where I am now. Will stay here until I go with them to Stockholm on monday evening.

This computer has a file full of my old downloaded great & long forgotten pictures from the internetz.

Frej’s website
has been updated with quite a lot of new drawings & paintings. (This one above is totally MINE! Isn’t it great when your favourite artist is also your boyfriend and required to be nice and give you things?)
Also his class, idégestaltning at Göteborgs Konstskola have their final exhibition at Konstepidemin in Göteborg, opening Saturday the 21th of August. They are all very talented and great people so you should definitely drop by if you’re in town. Come come come!

Been walking around town today, with the two couchsurfers staying with us right now; Mel from Germany & Nelson from Chile. We’ve also been cooking chilean food I can’t spell and drinking beer, eating at Solrosen and watching True Blood… Now they’re at the culture festival going on in town and I am back home reading and working a bit. Tomorrow my parents are visiting town! They’re here now, for a Leonard Cohen concert and tomorrow I am going to try and amuse them somehow.

DIY!

I’ve been energetic today due to extremely dull weather and impatience & have added some more patterns to Lily of the Valley! Love love the one above!
I also went through all of the old ones and checked if there were any that were listed as sold on the site but still left here due to non-paying customers and turns out there were loads of knitted & crochet patterns that people hadn’t payed for. So they’re all back up for sale now! Probably about 50 patterns. Since they were still listed on the site, but inactive, they are not in the new arrivals but they’re there!

(Sorry for the lack of updates with the book list, I have been quite busy this week with couchsurfers and whatnot so I’ll answer all of the missng days in a row and then get back on track again, when I have the time.)

I added a heap of vintage patterns to the site today, a few days ago I found a whole stash of patterns I had totally forgotten about and am adding from it when I have time to sit down and go through & scan them. (I am also training Frej in the art of adding patterns right now, and he’s a good student too!) Some of them (Almost only the label Simplicity) are in english and some in swedish. Some are kids’ patterns and some adult, all of them are complete. Mostly kids’ patterns added today but a few days ago there were both kids’ & adult.stil9512
